Meet Australia’s top 70 Family Inclusive Workplaces™

Today, Family Friendly Workplaces is extremely proud to announce as part of National Families Week 2022 the top 70 organisations now certified under the National Work + Family Standards, including 9 ASX 200 companies.

Founder of Family Friendly Workplaces and CEO of Parents At Work Emma Walsh says:

“We are thrilled to see so many employers embrace more family friendly policies and practices that support families to combine their work and caring responsibilities.

The future of work will be more family friendly for thousands of employees as a result.  And that’s good news not just for individual employees and their families but also for businesses keen to attract and retain talent, improve gender equality and drive greater engagement.”

Family Friendly Workplaces was launched in May 2021 by UNICEF Australia and Parents At Work, with the support of leading employers and other industry partners, to help workplaces adopt minimum policy and practice standards enabling employees greater access to flexibility and family leave provisions. The initiative was considered vital to respond to the pressures felt by families due to the covid pandemic.

The National Work + Family Standards were developed as a benchmark for employers, communicating best practice guidelines that enable employees to meet their work, family and wellbeing needs. As part of the 2022-2023 Women’s Budget Statement, the Federal Government committed to help expand the initiative to support 500 workplaces over three years to meet National Work & Family Standards and be certified as a Family Inclusive Workplace™.

“Australian parents and caregivers have been under enormous pressure to balance the demands of work and family over recent years, and this has been exacerbated by the challenges of COVID-19 creating knock on challenges for children.   We are so pleased to see employers taking action to help reduce stress and improve family wellbeing.  If we can reduce pressures on parents, there is no doubt the benefits will also be experienced by children.” ~ Tony Stuart, CEO of UNICEF Australia.
